A wide shot shows the whole place and who is in it, so scenes often begin with one. A medium shot shows a person from the waist up — good for talking. A close-up fills the frame with a face to show feelings, and an extreme close-up (a detail shot) shows one small part, like an eye or a fingertip. Angles change how things feel: a low angle looks up and makes someone look big and strong; a high angle looks down and makes them look small; eye level feels normal; a bird’s-eye view looks straight down.
