Idea to release: the making order — App development for students

Every app is made in the same order. First an idea: spot a problem and talk to the people who have it. Then a plan: sketch the screens, pick the features and draw the user flow. Then build: write the code, add the buttons and connect the data. Then test: try every button and let friends try it. Finally release it on an app store. After release, read the reviews, fix and improve, test again and release an update.

Developer's tip

Five steps in order — “idea, plan, build, test, release — then listen and update”

  1. Idea → plan → build → test → release.
  2. Plan before you build: sketches and flows are quick to change; code is not.
  3. After release: read reviews → list fixes → fix → test again → release an update.

Use it for: Planning a school project or a hackathon so nothing is forgotten.

Worked example: 🔢 When you make an app, what comes right after “get an idea”? → plan the screens

  1. The order is: get an idea, plan the screens, build the app, test the app, release it.
  2. Step 1 is the idea, so step 2 is planning the screens.

Check: Plan comes before build ✓
