The bishop stands in front of your rook, hiding the rook’s line to the black king.
Move the knight to give a discovered check from your bishop — and attack the queen.
Find your piece that stands in front of your own rook, bishop or queen. When it moves, the piece behind suddenly attacks. Make the moving piece attack something too!
In a discovered attack you move a piece off a line and “discover” an attack by the piece behind it. If the hidden attack is a check (a discovered check), Black must answer the check and the moving piece can grab almost anything.
Chapter 6 — Tactics: Win material with the tricks strong players use: pins, skewers, double attacks, discovered attacks, removing the defender and overloaded defenders.
