Find a black piece you attack that has exactly one protector. Capture the protector first (or attack it), and the piece is left hanging.

What you learn here

Count attackers and defenders. If a black piece has only one defender, take that defender away — by capturing it, even in a trade, or by chasing it — and the piece it guarded falls.
