Planning a school event — Leadership skills for students

A sports day, book fair or charity sale goes well when it is planned in order: set the goal and date, list all the tasks, give out the jobs, prepare and practise, hold the event, then review and thank the helpers. A budget lists costs before you spend, so you never overspend; a backup plan saves the day if it rains.

Leader's tip

Plan, assign, budget, review — “six steps from idea to thank-you”

  1. Order: set the goal and date → list all the tasks → give out the jobs → prepare and practise → hold the event → review and say thanks.
  2. Money left = money you have − all the costs: ₹2000 − (₹500 + ₹600 + ₹300 = ₹1400) = ₹600. Total cost = number × price each.
  3. Make a backup plan (indoor venue or another date) and share the task list with the whole team.

Use it for: Sports days, book fairs, annual days, charity sales, class parties and food stalls.

Worked example: 💰 Your class has ₹2600 for the science fair. You spend ₹300 on decorations, ₹100 on snacks and ₹200 on prizes. How many rupees are left? → 2000

  1. Total spent: ₹300 + ₹100 + ₹200 = ₹600.
  2. Left: ₹2600 − ₹600 = ₹2000.

Check: Try it: plan a small class event on paper — six steps, the jobs, and a budget that adds up ✓
