How to do it in your head

Round and adjust — “use the round number, then fix the 1”

1. Add 9, 19, 99: add 10, 20, 100, then take 1 away.
2. Take away 9, 19, 99: take away 10, 20, 100, then add 1 back.
3. Ask yourself: did I use too much or too little?

Use it for: Prices like ₹99 and ₹199, and any sum with a 9 at the end.

Worked example: 46 + 19 = 65
