Tables 13 and 14 — Tables & Multiplication Mastery

13 is 10 and 3, and 14 is 10 and 4. You only need the 3 and 4 tables you already know.

How it works

Ten and a bit — “13 × n = 10 × n + 3 × n”

  1. 13 × n = 10 × n + 3 × n.
  2. 14 × n = 10 × n + 4 × n (or double the 7 table).
  3. Add the two parts.

Use it for: Bigger tables in Class 3–5 and quick mental maths.

Worked example: 13 × 6 = 78

  1. Split 13 into 10 and 3: 10 × 6 + 3 × 6.
  2. 10 × 6 = 60 and 3 × 6 = 18.
  3. Add: 60 + 18 = 78.

Check: 13 × 6 = 13 + 13 + 13 + 13 + 13 + 13 = 78 ✓
