Tables 2, 5 and 10 — Tables & Multiplication Mastery

Start with the friendliest tables. The 2 table is doubling, the 10 table puts a 0 on the end, and the 5 table is half of the 10 table — so its answers always end in 5 or 0.

How it works

Skip counting — “2s, 5s and 10s are jumps you can count on your fingers”

  1. × 2: double the number (add it to itself).
  2. × 10: write a 0 after the number.
  3. × 5: find × 10, then take half. Answers end in 5 or 0.
  4. Order does not matter: 7 × 5 is the same as 5 × 7.

Use it for: Counting money in ₹2, ₹5 and ₹10 coins, telling the time in 5-minute jumps, and every bigger table later on.

Worked example: 5 × 8 = 40

  1. 5 × 8 is half of 10 × 8.
  2. 10 × 8 = 80.
  3. Half of 80 is 40.

Check: Count in 5s, 8 times: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 ✓

✏️ Practice
