How to teach it

Shape AND colour — “check two things: the shape must match and the colour must match”

  1. First look at the shape: circle, square or triangle?
  2. Then look at the colour.
  3. Count or choose only the ones where both match.

Use it for: Sorting toys and blocks by colour and shape, and following two-step instructions.

Worked example: How many blue circles are there? 🔵🟦🔵🟢🔵 → 3

  1. Look for shapes that are blue AND circles: 🔵.
  2. Count them: 1, 2, 3.

Check: Three 🔵 — the blue square and green circle do not count ✓
