More and less — Nursery and KG maths

Which plate has more mangoes? Your child counts two groups and finds the one with more — or the one with fewer (“less”). Some questions compare two different things: are there more fish or more ducks?

How to teach it

Count both groups — “the group with the bigger number has more; the other has fewer (less)”

  1. Count the first group, then the second group.
  2. The bigger number has more.
  3. The smaller number has fewer (less).

Use it for: Sharing sweets fairly, choosing the plate with more, and checking who has fewer.

Worked example: Which group has more mangoes? → 🥭🥭🥭🥭🥭

  1. Count each group: 2 and 5.
  2. The group with more has the bigger number: 5.

Check: 5 is more than 2 ✓
