× 5 and × 50: halve first — Speed Calculation

The fast method

Halve first — “5 is half of 10 and 50 is half of 100”

1. Halve the number.
2. × 5: multiply the half by 10. × 50: multiply the half by 100.
3. Odd number? Its half ends in .5 — 43 → 21.5 — and × 10 moves the point: 215.

Use it for: ₹5 and ₹50 notes, 50 paise coins, and checking bigger multiplications.
