Artist's tip

Find the topic — “decide which colour idea the question is about, then use that rule”

  1. Mixing: red + yellow = orange, blue + yellow = green, red + blue = purple; white lightens, black darkens.
  2. Wheel: complementary colours sit opposite, analogous colours sit side by side; warm = red to yellow, cool = green to purple.
  3. Read all the options before you choose — picture the colour wheel if you are unsure.

Use it for: Revising Part 1 before an art exam or a drawing competition.

Worked example: 🔍 Which is the odd one out? → orange

  1. Red, yellow and blue are primary colours.
  2. Orange is a secondary colour, so it is the odd one out.

Check: Orange = red + yellow, so it can be mixed — the others cannot ✓
