Part 1 test: communication skills — Interview skills for students
This test mixes questions from the seven Part 1 lessons: listening, clear questions, phone and email manners, tone, non-verbal signals and feedback. Pass it to earn the Part 1 badge.
Listen, ask, speak, write — “use the right skill for each situation”
Find the skill in the question: listening, asking, phone, email, tone, body language or feedback.
Use that lesson’s tip — check what you heard, name exactly what you need, greet and give your name, subject to signature, person first, sit tall, one good point and one tip.
Read every option before you choose.
Use it for: Revising Part 1 before interviews, group projects or your first internship.
Worked example: 🙋 Which is the most polite way to begin a question to a teacher? → “Excuse me, ma’am, …”
“Excuse me” and a respectful title show politeness.
So the best start is “Excuse me, ma’am, …”.
Check: Try it: call or email one office this week (a library, a coaching centre, a college) using everything from Part 1 ✓
Work it out in your head or on paper, type the answer and press Check. Stuck? Press “Show me how”.
