Speaking tips

Grammar point — “adjectives describe; -er than compares two; the -est compares many”

  1. Adjectives come before the thing or after is/are: “a busy city”, “The city is busy.”
  2. Compare two: add -er + than: “Arjun is taller than his brother.”
  3. The most of all: the + -est: “the highest mountain in the world”.

Use it for: Describing a friend, a place you visited or a lost bag, writing essays, and comparing things while shopping.

Worked example: Which sentence says “Our teacher is kind and funny.”? Our teacher is kind and funny.

  1. Listen again: “Our teacher is kind and funny.”
  2. Find the sentence that has exactly the same words.
