The method

Type, method, check — “name the type, use its method, and check the answer against the question”

  1. Name the type of question.
  2. Write the formula or method from that lesson and work step by step.
  3. Check units and size, and put the answer back into the question.

Use it for: Final revision before a scholarship, NTSE-style, Olympiad or school aptitude test.

Worked example: A train running at 72 km/h passes a pole in 9 seconds. How long is the train (in metres)? → 180

  1. 72 × 5/18 = 20 m/s.
  2. Length = 20 × 9 = 180 m.

Check: 180 m ÷ 20 m/s = 9 seconds ✓
