    How to say it

As they say, + proverb — “Add a proverb to make your point stronger”

    1. Learn the meaning, not word for word: Better late than never = देर आए, दुरुस्त आए।
    2. Introduce it: As they say, … / There is a saying, … — As they say, practice makes perfect.
    3. Use it after a real situation, not alone: You came early — the early bird catches the worm!
    4. Keep the words fixed: say 'Haste makes waste', not 'Hurry makes waste'. Proverbs never change form.

Use it for: Advice to friends, school speeches, essays, motivating your team or family, and chats with elders.

    Worked example: Practice makes perfect.

    1. Try each option in the gap: perfect / perfectly / perfection.
    2. Proverbs are fixed: Practice makes perfect (अभ्यास से निपुणता आती है).

Check: I can say three English proverbs with their Hindi equivalents and use one in a sentence ✓

    ✏️ Practice

Read the Hindi or listen (🔊), choose or build the English and press Check. Stuck? Press “Show me how”.
