How to draw a dog — easy step-by-step drawing for kids
Draw a dog in 6 simple steps. In every picture the new lines are orange and the lines you have already drawn are grey — so you always know what to add next.
Step by step
Step 1 Draw a wide oval for the dog’s head.
Step 2 Add a long floppy ear on each side.
Step 3 Draw two big round eyes.
Step 4 Draw an oval snout with a dark nose and a smile.
Step 5 Add a little tongue and a spot over one eye.
Step 6 Draw a collar with a round tag. Colour your puppy!
Drawing tips for kids
✏️ Draw lightly first Use a pencil and press softly — light lines are easy to rub out.
🔍 Look at the orange lines Each step adds only the orange lines. Everything grey is already on your paper.
🔵 Start with big shapes Circles, ovals and triangles first; small details like eyes and whiskers last.
🎨 Colour it in Go over the final lines with a dark pencil or pen, then colour your picture any way you like.
