    How to say it

    Sorry for… / It was my mistake. / Let's calm down. — “Own your mistake, cool things down, complain politely”

    1. Apologise: I'm really sorry. / Sorry for the delay. / It was my mistake. / It won't happen again.
    2. Calm down: Please calm down. / There's no need to shout. / I think it's a misunderstanding. / Let's talk about this calmly.
    3. Complain politely: Excuse me, I think this bill is wrong. / I'd like to make a complaint. / Could you please replace this?

    Use it for: Being late, forgetting something, a fight with a roommate or sibling, a wrong bill, a damaged order, a rude reply you regret.

    Worked example: Sorry for the delay.

    1. Try each option in the gap: for / of / to.
    2. Sorry for + noun (… के लिए माफ़ी).
