    How to say it

    Please / Could you… / Thank you, bhaiya — “Polite English for the people around your home”

    1. Greet first: Good morning, Sharma aunty! How are you? (नमस्ते आंटी, कैसी हैं?)
    2. Ask politely: Could you please + verb…? (क्या आप कृपया … कर देंगे?)
    3. Explain a problem: The + thing + isn't working. (The geyser isn't working. — गीज़र काम नहीं कर रहा।)
    4. Always end kindly: Thank you so much. / Please have some water. (बहुत धन्यवाद।)

    Use it for: Meeting neighbours in the lift, talking to house help, the society guard, a delivery person or an electrician.

    Worked example: The kitchen tap is leaking.
