The grammar rule

Time word first — “the time word picks the tense; the subject picks the form”

  1. Find the time word: every day, now, yesterday, tomorrow, since, before …
  2. Choose the tense it needs.
  3. Fit the verb to the subject: he / she → -s, is, has, was; I → am; we / they → are, have, were.

Use it for: Revising Part 2 before a school grammar test or an English Olympiad.

Worked example: Aditya ___ the ball on Saturdays. → throws

  1. “on Saturdays” is a habit: simple present.
  2. Aditya is one person, so the verb takes -s: throws.

Check: “He throws the ball on Saturdays” ✓
