    How to say it

What a + noun! · How + adjective! · Wow! Really? Oh no! — “Short reactions show you are listening and you care”

    1. What a + (adjective) + noun: What a great shot! What a long queue! (कितना… है!)
    2. How + adjective: How nice! How sad! How kind of you! (कितना अच्छा!)
    3. Quick words: Wow! Really? Oh no! Of course! No problem! Never mind. Well done!
    4. Say them with feeling — your voice goes up for Wow! and Really?

Use it for: A friend shares results, a cricket match on TV, bad news about a cancelled train, someone gives you a gift.

Worked example: What a beautiful rangoli!

    1. Try each option in the gap: a / an / the.
    2. 'What a' + noun that starts with a consonant sound. (व्यंजन ध्वनि से पहले a।)

Check: Can I react to good news with three different exclamations and to bad news with two? ✓

    ✏️ Practice

Read the Hindi or listen (🔊), choose or build the English and press Check. Stuck? Press “Show me how”.
