Speaker's tip

Plan it like a builder — “purpose, hook, structure, signposts, proof, ending, timing”

  1. Find the topic of the question: purpose, opening, structure, signpost, example, ending or timing.
  2. Use that lesson’s tip — know, do or enjoy; hook first; opening–body–closing; show the road; be specific; end strong; words = rate × minutes.
  3. For timing questions, write the multiplication or division before you answer.

Use it for: Revising Part 2 before an elocution contest, a debate or a speaking exam.

Worked example: 🧭 Why do speakers use signposting phrases? → to guide the listeners

  1. Listeners cannot scroll back like readers can.
  2. Signposts tell them where they are — they guide the listeners.

Check: Practise aloud: give a 2-minute speech on “Why we should save water” with a hook, two points, signposts and a call to action ✓
