Word tip

The sentence explains the word — “look for a reason, an example or a result that tells you what the hard word means”

  1. Find the hard word and read the whole sentence around it.
  2. Look for the clue: an example, a reason, a result or an opposite.
  3. Put your meaning in place of the word and check that the sentence still makes sense.

Use it for: Reading comprehension, unseen passages, reading novels, and every exam with a passage.

Worked example: After the long walk, Rohan was so famished that he ate four chapatis. “Famished” means ___. → very hungry
