Word tip

Put yourself in the story — “imagine you are the child — how would you feel?”

  1. Read what happened to the person in the story.
  2. Imagine it happened to you: how would you feel?
  3. Choose the exact word: “proud” when you did well, “grateful” when someone helped you, “lonely” when you are alone.

Use it for: Talking about feelings at home and school, writing stories and diary entries, and value-education lessons.

Worked example: Fill the gap: Isha won the drawing prize. Her parents were ___ of her. → proud

  1. Isha did something very well.
  2. When someone we love does well, we feel proud of them.

Check: “proud of her” — you can be proud of someone, not “bored of” her success ✓
