Letters and diary entries — Reading comprehension for kids
A letter starts with “Dear …” (the reader) and ends with the writer’s name. A diary entry is written by one person about their own day, so “I” is the writer. Questions ask about the news, the feelings and the reasons in the letter or diary.
Writer, reader, news — “find who wrote it, who it is for, and the news it gives”
“Dear …” names the reader; the name at the end is the writer.
In a diary, “I” is the person writing it.
Look for the news: what happened, when, and how the writer felt.
Use it for: Class 4 English comprehension, letter and diary writing lessons.
