Notices, instructions and recipes — Reading comprehension for kids
A notice tells many people about an event: what, when, where and who can come. Instructions and recipes list steps in order — first, next, then, finally. Questions ask for a detail or which step comes before or after another.
Read it in order — “steps happen one after another; notices say what, when, where and who”

For “which step comes after …”, find that step and read the next one.
Use it for: Reading school notices, following recipes and craft instructions, and Class 4 notice writing.
Worked example: Why will the library be closed on Monday? → For cleaning
Read the passage: NOTICE / Greenfield Public School / The school library will be closed on Monday for cleaning. Students must return all library books by Saturday. Books returned late will not be accepted on Monday. The library will open again on Tuesday at nine o’clock. For any questions, please meet the librarian, Mrs Joshi. Thank you for your help.
