About these worksheets

Connect-the-dots pages feel like magic to a child: join the dots in order and a banana, an elephant or an aeroplane appears. Behind the fun they practise counting in order (1 to 25), alphabet order (A to Z) and the steady pencil control needed for writing. The simpler pictures with fewer dots suit Nursery and LKG; the 1–25 and A–Z pictures suit UKG and Class 1, and children can colour the picture when it is finished.

The set also includes mazes — help the bee reach the flower, the dog find its bone or the girl get home. Mazes build planning and patience: look ahead, try a path, go back when stuck. Give a pencil, not a pen, so mistakes can be rubbed out. If your child loves these, our drawing worksheet maker can make new dot-to-dot sheets and our dot-to-dot sheet generator lets you choose the picture. Finished pictures make lovely colouring pages for a rainy afternoon.

Skills practised

  • Counting in order 1 to 25
  • Alphabet order A to Z
  • Pencil control — straight lines between points
  • Visual planning and patience (mazes)
  • Colouring and picture recognition

How to use these sheets

  1. Find dot number 1 (or letter A) and put your pencil on it.
  2. Say each number aloud as you join it to the next one.
  3. When the picture appears, guess what it is.
  4. Colour your picture.

Tip for parents and teachers: If a child skips numbers, ask them to put a finger on the next dot before drawing. For mazes, trace the path with a finger first, then with the pencil.
